Dream Defenders at Florida A & M University
Founded after the death of Trayvon Martin in 2012, the objective of the organization is to combat the residual effects of poverty, police brutality, mass incarceration, propagandizing public education, political repression, and war. Members and organizers work diligently to defend for citizens the freedom from poverty, freedom from prisons and police, freedom of mind, a free, flourishing democracy, freedom of movement, freedom from war, violence, and environmental destruction, and freedom to be. By educating citizens about systemic racism and oppression, we spread awareness of social, political, and economic issues, while gathering resources to establish community-oriented programs and initiatives to address these issues.
