What this policy covers

This policy applies to the University Crawls campus-guide application, including campus directories, professor pages, restaurants, coffee and matcha, nightlife, housing, organizations, events, guides, community features, account features, and campus verification.

Information we collect

We may collect account information you provide, such as your display name and email address; campus-verification information, including a university email address and verification status; content you submit, including reviews, reports, corrections, forum posts, votes, and suggestions; and technical information such as device, browser, page-view, referral, and performance data.

How we use information

We use information to operate and secure the service, create and manage accounts, verify campus affiliation, personalize campus experiences, publish user-submitted content where appropriate, moderate abuse, improve data quality, measure site usage and performance, troubleshoot problems, and communicate about service-related activity.

Campus verification

Campus verification uses a university email address to send a short-lived verification code. Verification codes are stored as one-way hashes, expire after a limited period, and are subject to retry and resend limits. A verified campus email may be associated with only one account.

Analytics and service providers

We use service providers to host the application, store data, send transactional email, and measure usage and performance. These providers process information on our behalf according to their services and applicable terms. The application currently uses Vercel, Supabase, Resend, and Google Analytics.

Public content

Reviews, ratings, forum content, corrections, and other contributions may be visible to other users after moderation or publication. Do not submit private, confidential, or sensitive information that you do not want displayed publicly.

Data retention

We retain information for as long as reasonably necessary to operate the service, maintain security and moderation records, comply with legal obligations, resolve disputes, and enforce our terms. Some records may be retained after account closure when necessary for fraud prevention, safety, legal compliance, or record integrity.

Your choices

You may choose not to create an account and still use public campus-guide features. Account holders may update information available through their account. You may also request correction or removal of content through the reporting and correction tools provided in the application.

Security

We use administrative, technical, and access-control measures designed to protect information. No internet service can guarantee absolute security, and users should use a strong, unique password and protect access to their email accounts.

Children

The campus-guide application is intended for a college and university audience and is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly seek to collect personal information from children under 13.

Changes

We may update this policy as the service changes. The effective date at the top of this page will be updated when material revisions are published.
