The purpose of the FAMU STARS Alliance Student Computing Corps Chapter is twofold. First, members take on a research, outreach, community service through computing, internship, or other project during the academic year which serves to deepen members' connections to the computing community and to the relevance of computing in today's society. These projects strengthen the member's skill set and marketability, enhancing success in the chosen program of computing study. Second, members serve as a mentor, peer leader, or outreach ambassador to help broaden interest and enrollment in computing. These mentoring and outreach projects can span elementary school through graduate students.
