The Professional Fraternity Council (PFC) was created in 1978 via the merger of the Professional Inter-fraternity Conference and Professional Panhellenic Association. The PFC was revised in 2021 to include nine (9) organizations. The PIC (professional men’s fraternities) and PPA (professional women’s sororities) were each founded in the 1920’s. Membership in PFC is restricted by fraternal organization and/or associated major/department/college or special affiliation. The Professional Fraternity Council, is the governing body for all recognized organizations that fall under their umbrella, here at the Florida A&M University. The purpose of this council is to maintain the system of PFOs, connect the PFOs in their individual points of action, support the recruitment of new members to PFOs, support mutual efforts of fundraising by the PFOs, and provide professional development opportunities to the members of the PFOs, general student body, and community at large.
