The mission of HERO is as follows: To help students grow into well-rounded professionals through cross cultural immersion and service in under-represented countries by way of medical mission trips; To provide basic health care to the residents of underrepresented countries including those living in rural and inner-city areas; To increase community awareness of existing health and educational disparities in both under-represented countries and in our local communities, cultivate a desire to serve, and contribute to an overall development of underserved populations; To provide an opportunity for students, healthcare professionals, and community leaders of different backgrounds to interact and build a network.
