The mission of the Caridad Student Clinic Interest Group is to provide compassionate, high quality and free healthcare and community outreach to those in need in our local Palm Beach County community. The Charles E. Schmidt College of Medicine at Florida Atlantic University consists of a diverse group of faculty and students who are committed to providing quality healthcare to all. The need for accessible free healthcare in our community for all has only been highlighted by the pandemic, and we as medical students hope we can help fill this need. Dr. Lisa Martinez, the faculty advisor for this project, has helped us secure a location at Caridad Clinic in which we will run a free student-run clinic operation on Saturday mornings. Additionally, we are in the process of creating community outreach initiatives and educational workshops for community members, emphasizing preventative care through healthy diet and lifestyle choices.
