
*Ongoing* St. Michael's Episcopal Church Needs Afterschool Program Assistants St. Michael's Episcopal Church needs Afterschool Program Assistants. Support the Afterschool Program Leader in providing a safe, engaging, and well-supervised environment for elementary students from The Sanibel School. Volunteers assist with homework help, crafts, reading one-on-one or in small groups, and formation experiences. This is an excellent fit for students in education, child development, social work, or anyone who enjoys working with young learners. This program is offered through St. Michael's, a faith community rooted in hospitality, service, and care for its neighbors. Volunteers help live out that mission by offering island families a welcoming, nurturing space where every child is treated with dignity and encouraged to grow. Commitment : Thursdays from 2:00 PM to 5:00 PM, beginning on November 5, 2026 and going through April 29, 2027. Please be able to serve the entire 3 hours. If there are multiple volunteers, you can rotate weeks if you are unable to come every Thursday. Requirement : Completion of an online child safety course (approximately 1–2 hours) prior to the first session. Toll to cross over the causeway will be reimbursed along with a mileage stipend.
