The Humanities Edge is a pathway partnership with Miami Dade College. With funding from The Mellon Foundation through their Community College University Partnership, we offer financial, academic, and career support for student and faculty in the humanities. At FIU, we work primarily with the departments of Art + Art History, English, and History. However, our program also supports students in other humanities subjects such as modern languages, philosophy, religious studies, and others. For MDC students, we offer an annual summer "H.E.ART" bridge program on campus at FIU to introduce students to humanities at FIU. Throughout the academic year at FIU, we offer a variety of activities including semesterly paid internships, annual undergraduate research conference, and support for peer writing mentors and the FIU Undergraduate Research Journal through the Center for Excellence in Writing. Throughout the year we collaborate with other units to offer activities on and off campus that engage students and faculty alike with humanities scholars, professionals, and the community at large. Our motto is "Study What You Love, Learn the Skills You Need to Succeed."
