Since its founding on September 19, 1963, at Morgan State University, Iota Phi Theta Fraternity, Inc.® has been committed to fostering Scholarship, Leadership, Citizenship, Fidelity, and Brotherhood among men. Today, Iota Phi Theta continues its dedication to community uplift, particularly within the African-American community, embodying a legacy of excellence nationwide. The Fraternity stands true to its founders' vision of "Building a Tradition, Not Resting Upon One." Founded at Florida International University on January 10, 2010, the Eta Sigma chapter of Iota Phi Theta Fraternity, Inc. was established by Robert Tassy, Walter Smith Jr., Ryan Camon, and Deiondrick Roberts to elevate Greek life standards and make a meaningful impact both on campus and throughout Miami-Dade County. Since its chartering, Eta Sigma has earned accolades from FIU and the Gulf Coast Region of Iota Phi Theta Fraternity, Inc., and remains committed to building on its tradition without resting upon it.
