PubMed and Embase for Graduate Students
Formerly known as the Literature Review in Health Sciences, this updated session is designed for graduate students in nursing, health, human sciences, neuroscience, music therapy, and any other health-related programs. Conducting a comprehensive literature review is important for graduate students to identify research problems and questions to advance their theses and dissertations. This session will cover strategies and best practices for searching scholarly resources, information organization, and identifying relevant studies to support your research. Topics: PICO questions and alternatives, selecting databases for your topic, writing and keeping track of your searches, and types of literature reviews. The databases selected for instruction may vary depending on the needs and research topics of registrants in each session, but they will likely include PubMed and Embase. We’ll work through some foundational strategies for searching scientific literature to develop research questions and advance research in your discipline. Bring your research topics and questions! Please contact this QEP's instructors, Jules Bailey or Jessica Noblitt, if you have questions about workshop content. You MUST use your FSU email account to access this workshop through Zoom. Please ensure that your Zoom app is up to date before the workshop. Check-in ends 10 minutes after the scheduled start time and late arrivals will not be admitted. The Graduate Skills Workshop series is a collection of workshops developed in collaboration with the Graduate School and the Quality Enhancement Plan (QEP) to support graduate research and success. Please note: The target audience for this workshop is graduate and doctoral students, but participants at all levels are welcome to join. To qualify for the Research and Creative Activity Travel Grant, only fully matriculated and admitted FSU students will be considered.
