In response to the use of Generative AI by authors and reviewers, many publishers have instituted AI policies that outline acceptable uses of this technology. Many of these policies extend to the very early stages of the research process, and it is critical that you have a clear understanding of what the specifics of these policies are. In this workshop, you will be introduced to some common features of publisher AI policies and help participants navigate their disclosure responsibly. We will also discuss the current landscape of licensing agreements between commercial publishers and AI companies, address author rights and contract negotiation in this landscape, and look at FSU Libraries’ agreements with publishers regarding AI use for text and data mining on our own resources.
