What happens in the body when we experience stress, and how can somatic practices help us respond with greater awareness and regulation? In this introductory webinar, The Mindful Prof will explore the science behind somatic work and the role the nervous system plays in how we experience and respond to stress. Participants will gain a foundational understanding of the mind–body connection, how stress patterns can show up physiologically, and why body-based approaches can be valuable tools for building greater awareness, resilience, and capacity. The session will pair science and practical application, guiding participants through one or two accessible somatic practices they can experience firsthand and begin incorporating into their daily lives. Dr. Kelsey Evans-Amalu is the founder and fearless leader of The Mindful Prof and The Mindful Corporation, where she brings together research-backed practices and holistic wellness to support individuals and organizations. Based in Central Florida, she serves as a wellness educator, somatic practitioner, and meditation instructor for private clients, corporate teams, and educational institutions. With a PhD in Education and certifications in yoga, meditation, Reiki, and coaching, Dr. K. specializes in mindfulness training, stress management, trauma-informed care, and resilience-building strategies. Her work empowers people to lead with presence, clarity, and compassion. Webinar hosted by the FSU College of Social Work's Florida Institute for Child Welfare. Click here to register: Zoom Webinar
