This October 14 and 15, FSU Libraries and the FSU Museum of Fine Arts (MoFA) will come together in concert with the MoFA’s Friendly Arbitration: Honoré Daumier on Crime, Justice, and Punishment, a major exhibition of prints by Honoré Daumier (1808–1879), whose innovative use of lithography helped transform print into a powerful vehicle for artistic expression, social critique, and mass communication in 19th century France. By making visual culture more accessible to broad audiences, Daumier's work provides a compelling foundation for conversations about print culture, information dissemination, visual literacy, and public discourse. This two-day interdisciplinary event brings together FSU Libraries and the FSU Museum of Fine Arts to explore the history, culture, and significance of print media through scholarship, collections, artistic practice, and public engagement.
