Nutrition, Exercise, and Wellness (NEW) is a medical student–led organization dedicated to promoting a holistic approach to health by educating students, faculty, and the broader community on the essential roles of nutrition, physical activity, and overall wellness in the medical profession. Recognizing the unique physical and mental demands placed on those working in healthcare, NEW aims to empower future physicians to prioritize their own well-being while learning how to better support the health of their patients. Throughout the academic year, NEW hosts a variety of events designed to foster both physical and mental wellness. These include invited guest speakers such as physicians, dietitians, fitness professionals, and wellness experts who provide evidence-based education on topics related to nutrition, exercise, stress management, and sustainable lifestyle habits. At least once each semester, NEW also brings in speakers to engage students in meaningful discussions that connect personal wellness with clinical practice. In addition to educational lectures, NEW offers interactive nutrition and exercise workshops that emphasize hands-on learning. These workshops allow participants to apply practical skills such as reading nutrition labels, meal planning, and developing effective workout routines reinforcing the idea that wellness is both teachable and attainable. To further encourage an active and balanced lifestyle, NEW hosts structured exercise classes each semester that are accessible to students and staff of all fitness levels.
