The purpose of our team is to provide a safe, fun, and competitive environment in which the students of Florida State University can learn and enjoy the sport of rowing. We practice at Maclay Gardens from 5:30 to 7:30 PM Monday through Thursday. Our team focuses on the "sweep" style of rowing, which involves only one oar. Most of our boats are 4+ or 8+, which means 4 rowers and a coxswain or 8 rowers and a coxswain. Coxswains are typically tiny but mighty people in charge of steering and giving instructions to their boat. We are a competitive team, placing our Novice Women's 4+ 3rd at Nationals 2018, and our Varsity Women's 4+ 4th at Nationals 2022. Our Novice Women’s 4 got 1st place at Regionals in 2022. At Regionals 2024 both our Women's Pair and Men's Lightweight 4+ got 3rd place. At Regionals 2025 our Lightweight Varsity Women's 4+ placed in 1st place. We race 5k in the fall and 2k in the spring. We are looking for athletic individuals or those tough enough to make up the difference. Do you have what it takes? No university student may be denied membership on the basis of race, creed, religion, gender, age, sexual orientation, national origin, martial status, parental status, disability, or the inability to pay dues.
