At Florida State University’s School of Dance, our Student Advisory Council is dedicated to fostering an inclusive and supportive environment where every member of our community can thrive. Elected representatives, with the support of the College of Fine Arts Leadership Council and FSU’s Student Government, champion the values of intersectionality, equity, and inclusion, recognizing that diverse perspectives and experiences enrich our artistic and academic endeavors. Our mission is to advocate for the needs and voices of all students, bridge the gap between undergraduate students and faculty, and promote a culture where every individual feels valued and empowered. By fostering engagement through intentional programming, providing both internal and external professional experiences, and promoting transparency between administration and the wider department, the Student Advisory Council invests in the student experience because it cultivates a vibrant and dynamic environment where creativity flourishes and academic excellence thrives. Through collaborative efforts and open dialogue, we strive to create a dynamic and equitable dance community that celebrates and supports the unique contributions of each member and aims to further support them in their artistic and professional experience.
