Floridance
Floridance is the University of Florida's original student-run dance company. Our organization is built on a passion for dance and a commitment to maintain a welcoming, supportive environment in which dancers can engage in artistry and athleticism. Auditions for the company are held each fall and spring semester. During our weekly Tuesday evening rehearsals, members practice their technique, participate in open classes taught by fellow dancers and alumni, and rehearse production pieces for our end-of-semester showcase. Members also have the opportunity to choreograph and/or join original group dances for the showcase. Our repertoire primarily includes jazz, contemporary, hip-hop, and lyrical, and we encourage members to introduce new styles and expand our artistic diversity. Outside of the studio, we host social and service events to foster strong relationships within our internal and broader Gainesville communities. All students are invited to attend our open classes hosted by members and alumni throughout the year! Classes and other updates are posted on our Instagram.
