Founded in 1909 by notable Black activists such as Ida B. Wells and W.E.B Du Bois, the NAACP began as a group advocating for the continuous improvement of the wellbeing, quality of life, social, economic, and political status of Black and Brown people in the United States. As a collegiate branch of the national organization, the Gator Chapter of the NAACP continues that mission, advocating and educating for the better of communities of color both on UF campus and in the greater Alachua area.
