Tau Beta Pi is the principal engineering honor society, originally founded in 1885 and having initiated over 650,000 members to date. Our purpose is to recognize exceptional engineering students, promote academic and professional excellence, encourage young students to pursue engineering, and serve our local community. Additionally, Tau Beta Pi offers exclusive opportunities for networking and scholarship awards within the society. The Florida Alpha Chapter was established in 1961, and out of 259 collegiate chapters, is one of the nation's most active. We have been named the Most Outstanding Chapter 10 times. To be eligible for membership, juniors must be in the top eighth of their class, and seniors and graduate students must be in the top fifth of their class; all candidates must demonstrate exemplary character.
