Do Miracles Happen
Michael Licona, a Professor of New Testament Studies at Houston Christian University and president of Risen Jesus, Inc, has a Ph.D. in New Testament Studies from the University of Pretoria and is the author of numerous books, including the critically acclaimed The Resurrection of Jesus: A New Historiographical Approach (2011). He has spoken on more than 100 university campuses and appeared on dozens of radio and television programs.
Dr. Licona will give a vigorous, affirmative answer to the question, "Do Miracles Happen." He will approach the topic from philosophical, scientific, and historical perspectives. A significant part of his message will focus on the credibility of the New Testament accounts of miracles, particularly the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead and the post-resurrection appearances to his disciples. Mike is not afraid of pushback or challenges. He has frequently debated Dr. Bart Ehrman on this topic, and over the years the two scholars have become personal friends.
Licona is a member of the Evangelical Theological Society, the Institute for Biblical Research, the Society of Biblical Literature, and the Studiorum Novi Testamenti Societas. He writings include Jesus, Contradicted: Why the Gospels Tell the Same Story Differently (2024), Why Are There Differences in the Gospels: What We can Learn from Ancient Biography (2011), and Paul Meets Muhammad: A Christian-Muslim Debate on the Resurrection (2006). He is co-author of The Case for the Resurrection of Jesus (2004, with Gary Habermas) and co-editor of Evidence for God: 50 Arguments for Faith from the Bible, History, Philosophy, and Science (2010, with William Dembski).
Mike gladly accepts questions from the audience. After his presentation, he will sign books at the book table.
