National Society of Black Physicists - National Society of Hispanic Physicists
The mission of the National Society of Black Physicists and the National Society of Hispanic Physicists at the University of North Florida is to build a supportive and inclusive community for students, faculty, and allies, particularly those interested in pursuing physics and astronomy. While the National Society of Black Physicists and the National Society of Hispanic Physicists are separate organizations with their own identities and chapters, we believe that bringing our communities together at the University of North Florida can create a stronger network and greater opportunities for students. Because there may be a limited number of students from underrepresented backgrounds pursuing physics and astronomy, we want to unite our communities on campus rather than have students feel isolated within separate organizations. Our club is open to anyone who supports our mission and wants to contribute to creating a more inclusive and supportive environment in physics and astronomy. We aim to bring students together through mentorship, academic support, research, professional development, outreach, and collaborative events while celebrating the different backgrounds and experiences within our community. By working together, we hope to increase representation in physics and astronomy, encourage more students to pursue these fields, and create a space where everyone who supports our cause can connect, grow, and thrive at the University of North Florida and beyond.
