Our mission is to prepare students at USF to recognize, understand, and address one of the most prevalent and underserved areas in healthcare. Substance use disorders affect every discipline and patient population, yet addiction remains stigmatized in society and underrepresented in medical education. We aim to facilitate and connect students to addiction medicine opportunities at USF, such as educational sessions, mentorship, research, service activities, and clinical experiences. In doing so, our goal is to build a community of professionals equipped with the clinical knowledge and patient-centered approach needed to care for this vulnerable population with competence and compassion throughout their careers.
