The Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Club is comprised of jiu-jitsu practitioners alongside other martial artists and athletes. Through teaching the art of Brazilian jiu-jitsu, the club offers students the opportunity to learn self-defense, participate in an exhilarating sport, experience team comradery, and alleviate the stress of college life. We welcome anyone who would like to delve into the art of Brazilian jiu jitsu. No previous experience necessary! TRAINING We currently hold practices at the following times: Mondays 8:30-10:30pm, Tuesdays 8:45-10:15 pm, Wednesdays 8:30-10:30 pm, and Thursdays 7:30-9:30 pm. All practices occur in Multipurpose Room D of the Herbert Wellness Center. Multi-D is on the second floor on the wellness center, all the way on the left. Practice consists of a warm-up, technique instruction, drilling, sparring, and open mat time at the end for questions, training, socializing, or anything else members may have an interest in. We train primarily no-gi. We recommend wearing shorts without pockets and fitted or compression clothing if you own it so that your clothing doesn’t interfere. The use of a mouthguard is recommended (though not mandatory). Follow us on Instagram for club updates! @UMBJJ
