Kesem at the University of Miami
Watch the magic of what we do here at Kesem Miami! :) Thank you for taking the time to visit our page! Kesem is a one-of-a-kind organization. With 1.9 million cancer cases per year in the United States, there are over 6 million kids affected by a parent’s cancer (ACS, 2022). Support is often provided for these grown-ups, but the special personal emotional needs of their children can be overlooked -- kids are often left to deal with these personal tragedies on their own. Enter Kesem ! Led by the passionate and enthusiastic efforts of college students across the country, Kesem helps provide what these kids need most: support, courage, empathy, and fun. Every child deserves a childhood, so our goal is that no child should ever have to face a caregiver's cancer alone . Kesem was founded at Stanford University in 2000, and at the University of Miami in 2006, and has grown rapidly, with over 130 chapters across the country. Student-leaders at UM serve as volunteers to plan, fundraise, and lead our free year-round support and flagship week-long summer camp for our camper families. Kesem is always looking for motivated and passionate students to be a part of our organization. Whether you want to interact with our incredibly inspiring and energetic campers, strengthen your fundraising abilities for a good cause, investigate how marketing functions in the real world, build long-term relationships with our community and other like-minded students, sharpen your creative design and adaptability skills, or help plan the activities that help Camp Kesem and Kesem programming come to life, you have a place at Kesem .
