Lambda Theta Alpha
Lambda Theta Alpha Latin Sorority, Incorporated was founded at Kean University in Union, NJ in 1975 by 17 lovely ladies and was established as the FIRST & ONLY Latina Sorority in the Nation. Our sorority was formed as a support group for Latinas in higher education during a time period of minimal support and machisimo. We have evolved to become Latin By Tradition NOT By Definition and in just The Beta Sigma Chapte r alone at UM we have sisters/siblings from over 35 different nationalities, races, and ethnicities represented. Our main focus is to be a support group for women in higher education but have other principles that we actively live by. We also strive to promote cultural awareness by supporting our community through community service , activism , and education . Our LOVELY sisterhood is more than just a Four Year Trend in undergraduate and lasts a lifetime with the connections that are made on and off campus.
