Sigma Chi
Sigma Chi is a Fraternity with roots in the collegiate experience that engenders a lifelong commitment to strive to achieve true friendship, equal justice and the fulfillment of learning. Sigma Chi is dedicated to developing, implementing, and monitoring programs that foster leadership, build character, and promote positive relationship skills that, in turn, enable its members to become productive and caring participants in their families, colleges, and communities. The Gamma Phi chapter of Sigma Chi was founded in 1942 and has been actively involved on UM's campus for over 75 consecutive years. Recently presented with the award for the Most Improved Chapter within IFC, Sigma Chi supports The Children’s Miracle Network and The Taylor Emmons Scholarship Foundation. Above all, the Gamma Phi Chapter of Sigma Chi is the proud owner of Touchdown Tommy, the historic cannon fired off every time the Hurricanes Football team scores.
