The Epsilon Eta Chapter of Sigma Iota Rho (SIR) National Honor Society is partnered with the Departments of International Studies and Political Science, designed “to promote and reward scholarship and service among students and practitioners of international studies, international affairs, global studies, and political science and to foster integrity and creative performance in the conduct of world affairs.” SIR seeks to bring together young scholars as well as anyone interested in international affairs. It also hopes to further students’ academic and career development, facilitate networking and friendships, and provide an open forum for discussion. Membership in the Epsilon Eta Chapter requires certain academic eligibility requirements be met followed by application for induction. Upon being approved for induction, a one-time $65 induction fee is paid by newly inducted members via the Engage Store to cover SIR National administrative costs, as well as the cost of induction certificate, pin, and cord. Application for induction cycles are carried out in Fall and Spring semesters; INS and POL students are notified of same via email. At the end of each induction cycle and fee payment and processing, an induction ceremony for new members is held at 1300 Campo Sano Avenue (the INS and POL building on campus).
