The vision of UMaker is to provide students with a safe and inclusive space to create, invent and learn. We strive to enable students to design, prototype and complete manufactured works by providing students with resources otherwise unavailable to them, as well as by promoting S.T.E.M. through outreach in our local community. Our projects include themes like 3D printing, Robotics, Arduino, Raspberry pi, and outreach with the Frost Museum of Science and neighboring schools. Students will also use the resources of each other and of University of Miami’s engineering and workshop staff. UMaker is for both students with large amounts of experience and students with no experience. The workshop staff will be with beginners every step of the way to guide and keep them safe. For students with more experience, the workshop staff will serve as an outlet to bounce ideas and techniques off of. As UMaker, we hope to spark ingenuity in students who are seeking more ways of expressing it.
