Veteran Affairs Mentoring Program
The purpose of the Veteran Affairs Mentoring Program shall be providing a connection for new incoming students in their transition to the Florida A&M University community by supplying them support and resources to increase their success. We will do this by matching students with peers that they are able to rely on as they navigate through their experience at FAMU as well as bridging the gap between the non-affiliated and military-affiliated student body. We have four goals: 1. Increase student involvement and interaction by identifying and implementing specific networking activities among peer mentors and mentees; 2. Provide students with additional encouragement and inspiration to be successful by bridging the gap between institutional services and support systems; 3. Provide direction, support and resources to incoming first year and transfer students to assist students adjust academically and socially to the community campus; 4. Encourage team building and leadership development among mentors.
